About Jim Convis
Jim
founded User Solutions in 1991 to fulfill the genuine need
for lower cost, easy to learn and use software solutions for
the manufacturing and operations management markets. Jim transitioned
from Lotus Development Corporation where he had managed the
Lotus Manufacturing Marketing vertical segment.
Previous to Lotus, Jim worked with an Industrial Software
supplier and implemented custom spreadsheet solutions with
EDS and Caterpillar. In the mid 80’s, Jim implemented
the very first IBM Industrial Computer with a real time spreadsheet
interface for cell control in various GM Plants.
Jim especially enjoys listening to customers, learning about
their unique challenges and finding and applying creative
solutions to meet their needs.
Jim is married to the love of his life and has 5 children.
Experience/Capabilities
Graduated
first in class from Univ. of Colorado with a B.S. in Applied
Mathematics with minors in EE and Physics.
Previous to a ‘formal’ education, Jim worked 6
yrs. in the Oklahoma oil fields operating heavy equipment
(workover rigs) and managing roughneck crews. Jim also has
several years (and still counting) of hands-on construction
experience.
Post college education included successful completion of Electronic
Data Systems Engineering Systems Development program. Jim
has 20+ yrs experience in the manufacturing industry in a
variety of areas, including: Process Engineer, Programmer,
Controls Engineer, Systems engineer, Software Sales Manager,
Marketing Manager, and Entrepreneur.
